The twelve-month rise was the second slight rise in a row and followed three months of yr/yr decline, including a 1.7% drop in December. In July 2010, retail sales rose yr/yr for the first time since March 2007.
In a month-on-month comparison, retail sales leveled out after a 0.8% rise n January and a 0.6% drop in December.
Retail sales in Hungary fell 2.3% last year, declining for the fourth year in a row.
Car and car part sales, which, in line with EU methodology, are not part of the retail statistics, were unchanged from February 2010 and were down 3.3% yr/yr in January-February. Car and car part sales were still down over the year 10.0% from 2009.
