Retail gas prices remain unchanged on July 1

The retail price of gas delivered to households, small consumers and district-heating providers by so-called “universal service providers” has remained unchanged on July 1, in accord with the Fidesz-led government's Wednesday decision to freeze prices, the National Development Ministry announced on Thursday.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced as part of the government's 29-point action plan in early in June that the government would prohibit universal service-providers from raising the price of retail gas until it completes a review of the cost of energy by the beginning of the fall heating season.

The economic daily Világgazdaság reported on Wednesday that Russia would raise the price of gas exported to Hungary to $ 380 from $360 per 1,000 cubic meters on July 1. (MTI-Econews)
