Real wages up 6.8% yr/yr in January-September

Hungary's gross wages rose by 7.7% year on year in September and net wages went up by 9.2% from a year earlier, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Thursday.
In the first nine months of the year, gross wages went up by 9.7% year on year, while net wages rose by 10.7%. The corresponding figures for January-August were 10.0% and 10.9%.
Real wages were up by 6.8% year on year in January-September (vs. 6.9% in January-August) at a CPI of 3.7%.
Gross average wage in the whole economy was Ft 154,631 in January-September, up 9.7% from the same period of 2004. In September alone, gross average wage was Ft 150,337, up 7.7% year on year and also higher than in August (Ft 148,438).
Net average wage in the whole economy was Ft 101,299 in January-September, up 10.7% year on year. In September alone net average wage rose 9.2% to Ft 99,232, which was also up from Ft 98,297 in August.
The number of employed in the whole economy totalled 2.79 million in the first nine months, down 0.1% from a year earlier. In September alone the number of employed dropped by 0.2% year on year to 2.798 million.
