Public sector workers and the government reached an agreement on compensation for suspended annual bonuses, averting a strike planned for January 12, State secretary at the Social and Labor Affairs Ministry Gábor Simon, who negotiated for the government at the talks, confirmed at a meeting of the National Interest Coordination Council (OÉT).
Public sector workers that earn up to HUF 180,000 a month will receive 8.33% of their monthly wage as full compensation for the amount of their annual bonus, said state secretary László Herczog. Employees that earn more than this will receive a fixed monthly HUF 15,000 in compensation.
“What we signed was not an agreement, but creates the possibility for a later agreement,” said László Varga, who chairs an association of public sector unions. (MTI – Econews)
