Hungarian financial market regulator PSZÁF said in a statement on Wednesday that it is working on a mid-term strategy that will prepare for its continued “independent, strong and efficient” operation.
PSZÁF made the statement after press reports said it is in talks on a possible merger with the National Bank of Hungary. Neither the NBH nor the Finance Minister would confirm the talks, and MTI learnt that there never were such talks, information that was confirmed by PSZÁF.
PSZÁF said it has already started preparing the strategy for the period starting in 2010. The strategy is based in part on PSZÁF's designated role as a forward-looking regulator in the government's crisis management plan. (MTI-ECONEWS)
