Poland’s GDP rose at an annual rate of 6.4% in the Q3, keeping up the same high level of growth as the Q2, according to a preliminary estimate issued Friday by the Central Statistical Office.
Poland, the largest of the European Union’s new members, has seen its economy boom and unemployment fall since it joined the bloc in 2004, thanks in part to increased foreign investments and EU subsidies. The 6.4% rate compares with 6.6% GDP growth in the Q3 of 2006. Many economists and politicians believe the economy could cool as the global economy slows. (businessweek)
