The National Bank of Poland (NBP) left key lending rates untouched Wednesday, in line with market expectations.
The benchmark rate remained at the record low of 4.00%, set by the central bank's independent Monetary Policy Council (RPP) last year. The Lombard rate - the rate at which the central bank grants emergency loans to commercial banks - stayed at 5.50%, according to a RPP statement issued Wednesday. Another rate used by the central bank for loans to commercial banks, the discount rate, remained at 4.25%, while the deposit rate remained at 2.50%, the statement said. Analysts believe a rate hike could come in April. (www.eux.tv)
