PMI rises to adjusted 53.5 in March

Hungary's seasonally-adjusted Purchasing Manager Index (PMI) rose to 53.5 in March from 51.2 in February, and was well over the 49.4 measure in March 2004, Halpim, the company which compiles the index, announced on Monday.

The unadjusted index was 55.1 in March after 50.5 in February. The March PMI well exceeded the 49.3 average March index value registered in the previous three years.
A PMI over 50 reflects an expanding manufacturing sector and a PMI under 50 means the sector is contracting.
