PM opens new M5 motorway section

Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány officially opened a new section of the M5 motorway in south Hungary on Saturday. The 14,7-kilometer section will link the city of Szeged with Röszke, Hungary's border crossing with Serbia-Montenegro.

Constructions involved moving a total of 1.172 million cubic meters of soil and coating 470,000 square meters of road. Drivers can use the new section toll-free. With the new section completed, there is now a continuous motorway connecting Hungary's western border with Austria, through Budapest, to the southern border.
