Parliament approves amendment pushing back deadline for digital switch

Parliament approved late on Monday a change to the new Media Act that pushes back the deadline for making the switch to digital terrestrial broadcasting.

The change moves the deadline for making digital programming available to at least 94pc of the population from December 31, 2011 to December 31, 2012. However, if the deadline is not met, the amendment allows the switch to be made as late as December 31, 2014. (MTI-ECONEWS)
