Outgoing finance minister optimistic projects 0.5% growth

Hungary's economy could grow 0.5% in 2010, outgoing Finance Minister Peter Oszko told reporters in Budapest on Friday.

The Finance Ministry said in its latest projection in January that the economy would contract 0.2% in 2010.

Hungary's economy grew an unadjusted 0.1% in Q1 from the same period a year earlier and 0.9% in a quarter-on-quarter basis, the latest data from the central Statistics Office (KSH) show. Analysts had expected a contraction.

The economy contracted 6.3% in 2009. (MTI-ECONEWS)
