Orbán to wait till last minute to nominate next central bank gov

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Wednesday said he will wait until one day before "the deadline" to name a proposed successor to National Bank of Hungary governor Andras Simor. Speaking at Bruegel, a think tank in Brussels, Orbán said he would make the nomination at the last minute to avoid debates on the matter. Simor's mandate ends on March 2, 2013. National Economy Minister Gyorgy Matolcsy, whose unconventional economic policy has earned the ire of some foreign investors, could be among the possible successors, observers have speculated.
