Number of counterfeit bills rises in Q1

The number of counterfeit forint bills discovered in Hungary rose to 1,584 in Q1 from 1,088 in Q4, the latest data from the Hungarian Central Bank (MNB) show.

The counterfeit bills were found in 1,370 cases in Q1, up from 1,021 in Q4, the bank said.

All of the bills discovered were counterfeited with conventional office equipment.

The number of counterfeit foreign currency bills discovered in Q1 rose to 498 from 445 in Q4. Three-fourths were counterfeit euro banknotes and one-fifth were counterfeit dollars. (MTI – Econews)
