National Development Minister Tamás Fellegi on Thursday asked senior officials from multinational companies operating in Hungary to cooperate in restoring investor confidence in the country.
Addressing a meeting of the Hungarian Association of International Companies, Fellegi said that the Hungarian government would conduct regular consultations with multinational companies, and is open to adopting their proposals aimed at the rationalization of the regulatory system.
Fellegi said that multinational companies play a crucial economic role in Hungary, and confirmed the government's commitment to create a firm and reliable economic and regulatory environment.
Fellegi blamed the previous government's policies for the necessity to levy extra taxes on economic players. The minister said the government will continue to prefer solutions deemed the most advantageous for Hungary and that avoid tightening affecting the population when creating the potential for midterm growth.
