Magyar Posta will raise the unit fee it charges utilities companies and other service providers to use postal checks from HUF 112 to HUF 137 next year, daily Népszabadság said on Wednesday. Consumers use the "yellow checks" to pay their bills with cash at post offices. The recipient of the payment pays the check fee. Magyar Posta told the paper that all fee increases planned for 2013 were intended to cover rising costs, not to raise revenue. Postal check transactions generate 15-16% of Magyar Posta's annual revenue. Hungary's postal services market will be deregulated from the start of next year.
