Hungary M&A market was showing clear signs of recovery in the first half of this year as the number of deals rose to 45 compared to a year earlier, according to a fresh survey by PricewaterhouseCoopers.
M&A activity in January-June surpassed both 2008 and 2009 levels, though the deals were generally smaller in value than in previous years. Financial investor activity was only marginally higher, while the number of minor deals more than doubled to 25 from H1 2009. Strategic investors were once again the most active on the local M&A market. In regional terms, local investors signed more deals than their foreign peers already last year and this trend continued through the first half of 2010. (BBJ)
