Today is the last day for private pension account holders to declare that they will keep their private accounts. Almost 70,000 private pension account holders, or roughly 2% of the total, have so far decided to keep their private accounts. This number is could reach 80,000 by the end of the day.
Thus, the majority of the 3.3 million Hungarians who are private pension fund members are opting to return their portfolios to the state budget. Those, who decided to stay are typically the highest earners with assets in value of several million forints on their private pension accounts. (BBJ)
