Only about one-fifth of Hungarians have taken a vacation longer than five days in the past year, market research company GfK Hungária told MTI on Thursday, citing a survey with Ipsos Nemzeti MédiaAnalízis.
About 14% of those surveyed said they had vacationed for more than five days in Hungary in the past year and about 8% said they had vacationed abroad. About 2% said they had travelled to Croatia, 1% said they visited Greece, 1% Italy and 1% Austria.
About 76% of Hungarians do not plan a vacation longer than five days in the coming twelve months, up from 71% a year earlier. About 10% plan a long vacation in Hungary and 7% plan to go abroad.
About 54% those surveyed said they did not usually take vacations longer than five days.
About 38% of vacationers said they enjoyed going to the beach and sunbathing. About 30% said they liked seeing cities and less than one-fifth like cultural programmes. Just 14% go hiking while on vacation, 7% participate in water sports, 3% go boating and 4% bicycle. (MTI-ECONEWS)
