Italian job market has been opened to East Europe

On 21 July Italy lifted restrictions on the inflow of workers from eight additional EU member states from Eastern Europe, including Hungary, Reuters reported from Rome. The move brings the number of EU states with free movement of labor to 18. Italy's centre-left government said that it would end restrictions on Eastern Europeans as well as creating a new quota of 350,000 non-EU workers who would be allowed to legalize their jobs in Italy, as part of an ongoing series of amnesties. "We have put an end to discrimination against the new EU countries," said Cabinet Undersecretary Enrico Letta. (Econews, Napi Gazdaság)
