Investment volume in Hungary drops 4.5% in Q4

Investment in Hungary fell 4.5% year on year in the Q4 of 2006, and fell 2% in 2006 in volume terms, preliminary figures published by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) show today.

Seasonally-adjusted investment volume rose a preliminary 1.0% in Q4 2006 compared to the previous quarter. In Q4 building investments fell 5.6% year on year and machinery investments were down 2.7%, the Central Statistics Office said. In 2006, building investments fell 1.9% and machinery investments fell 1.3%, while other investments, which have a small weight in overall investments, fell more than 20%, KSH reported. In 2005, investment volume increased 6.4%, slowing from a 7.8% rise in 2004. (Bloomberg)
