Hungary's private pension-fund yields rebound in 2009

Private-pension funds in Hungary essentially regained their previous losses in 2009, when growth portfolios achieved an average yield of 25.95%, balanced portfolios posted an average yield of 17.75% and classical portfolios recorded an average yield of 12.11%, Stabilitás Pénztárszövetség president Csaba Nagy announced on Thursday.

Nagy said that the market value of property belonging to private pension funds affiliated with Stabilitás was 2,395.7 billion (€8.82 billion) in 2009, up 39.6% from 2008.

The Stabilitás president reported that classical portfolios achieved an average yield of 7.22% between 2000 and 2009, while growth portfolios posted an average yield of 6.64% and balanced portfolios recorded an average yield of 5.77% during the period, noting that Hungary had an average inflation rate of 5.9% from 2000 to 2009.
