Hungary's PMI rises to adjusted 53.7 in December

Hungary's seasonally-adjusted Purchasing Manager Index (PMI) rose to 53.7 in December 2006 from 51.7 in November, reflecting higher growth, Halpim, the company which compiles the index, said on Tuesday.

The index value was above the 51.8 December average in the previous three years. The unadjusted index was 45.7 in December, falling from 51.9 in November.

Average PMI for 2006 was 54.0, up from 51.4 in 2005, and well over the 51.4 average value in the previous three years. A PMI over 50 reflects an expanding manufacturing sector and a PMI under 50 means the sector is contracting. (Mti-Eco)
