Hungary's industrial output in January rose 11% in volume terms from a year earlier according to both working day-adjusted and unadjusted figures, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported on Wednesday.
The figure is up from a preliminary 10.5% rise reported on March 8. January output fell 0.1% from December 2006, less than a preliminary 0.4% fall, according to seasonally- and working-day-adjusted figures. January industrial sales rose 8.5% year-on-year in volume terms, boosted by a sharp 16.6% rise in export sales, while domestic rose a mere 0.5% from a year earlier, working-day adjusted figures show. Compared to December, however, industrial export sales fell a seasonally and working-day adjusted 1% and domestic sales rose 0.6%, resulting in a 0.6% m/m rise overall sales. Industrial output rose 10.1% in 2006. Industrial sales volume rose 9.4% last year, with a 14.6% increase in export sales and a 4% rise in domestic sales. (Bloomberg)
