Guest nights spent at commercial accommodations by Hungarian and foreign tourists fell 9.9% to 10.195 million in January-July 2009 compared to the same period last year, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said.
Guest nights in July fell 5.7% to 2.859 million from a year earlier. The drop was unchanged from June and decelerated from May, when guest nights decreased 13.1% yr/yr after a slight 1.0% rise in April.
Gross revenue from accommodation and related services dropped 9.7% to HUF 124.143 billion (€459.8 million) in January-July. Revenue from accommodations, excluding catering, amounted to HUF71.708 billion, down 8.5% yr/yr. (MTI – Econews)
