Hungary, US cooperate on patents

The Hungarian Patent Office and the US Patent and Trademark Office are to enter into a cooperation agreement from July 1 this year for securing quick, cheap and high-quality patent protection in both countries, Hungary's patent office said.

The registration of inventions will be accompanied by accelerated processes in both countries, the office said, adding that the cooperation pact means that duplication of patent procedures will be avoided since each office will recognise the other's background work.

The agreement will “speed up Hungarian-American technology transfer and boost cooperation on innovation,” Miklós Bendzsel, the Hungarian Patent Office's president, told MTI. (MTI – Econews)
