Hungary will strengthen cooperation with the European Union in energy policy, National Development Minister Tamás Fellegi and European Commissioner for Energy Gunther Ottinger agreed on Thursday.
Closer cooperation will ensure that relevant tasks are successfully fulfilled during Hungary's upcoming EU presidency, with a view to implementing the EU energy policy until 2020.
Officials and experts from both sides will intensify joint policymaking to ensure that the 2020 objectives determined under Hungary's presidency turn out to be successful, they said.
Fellegi briefed Ottinger on Hungary's energy objectives and plans for the period of the EU presidency and they also discussed a planned energy event to take place in Budapest.
In the afternoon, they attended the inauguration of a gas interconnector between Hungary and Romania. (MTI-Econews)
