Hungary will spend almost HUF 500 billion (€1.87 billion) on developments to prevent flood and inland water damages as part of the operative programs between 2007-2013, Ministry of the Environment and Water Management State Secretary László Kóthay said in Balmazújváros on Monday.
Kóthay said preparation of the plans for the seven-year period beginning in 2014 will start next year, focusing on protection of the water bases and water reserves.
Sándor Bara of the regional environmental and water management authority Tikövízig said developments worth HUF 9 billion will be completed as part of six projects in the area east of the Tisza River by 2013. (MTI-ECONEWS)
