Close to 45,000 applications have been submitted for development tenders invited as part of the 2007-2013 New Hungary Plan (UMFT), of which 19,529 applications have won funding of close to HUF 850 billion (€3.25 billion), the business daily Világgazdaság said on Thursday.
Hungarian development projects have received HUF 3,581 billion from the EU's cohesion and structural funds, with the contracted amount making up more than 50% of the total of HUF 6,943 billion available to Hungary in the seven-year budget period, the paper said.
Econews earlier reported that Hungary received a total of €920.44 million from the EU's Cohesion Fund, the European Regional Development Fund and the European Social Fund between 2007 and 2009.
Hungary accounts for 6.48% of European Union payments, fifth place among EU countries in this regard. Hungary received €805.27 billion from cohesion and development funds, the third most in the EU, though the remaining payment from the social fund would only place the country in the top nine as of December 2009.
