Retail sales volume in Hungary fell a calendar year-adjusted 5.6% in the twelve months to January 2010, slowing further from a 7.4% decline in December, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Tuesday. Retail sales rose on the month for the first time since last June.
In a month-on-month comparison, retail sales rose 0.6% in January according to seasonally- and calendar year-adjusted figures, after a 0.7% fall in December.
Retail sales volume has dropped every month yr/yr since February 2007. The monthly rise is the third month-on-month increase since the start of 2007.
2009 retail sales volume was down 5.2% from the previous year.
Car and car parts sales, which are not included in retail sales data, were down 28.3% yr/yr in January after a 44.3% twelve-month drop in December and a 41.3% drop last year. (MTI-ECONEWS) -
