Hungary raises cap on “de minimis” subsidy for farmers, in line with move by Brussels

A decree to take force on Tuesday will raise the cap on provisional subsidies available to farmers by the end of 2010 to €15,000, the text of the decree in the official gazette Magyar Közlöny shows.

Minister of Agriculture József Gráf told MTI that the decree was necessary because the European Union doubled the cap on “de minimis” subsidies - subsidies that do not count as state aid - to €15,000 because of the global economic crisis. He added that the ministry still has to find the funds to pay the subsidies. (MTI-Econews)
