Hungary PPI slows to 6.9% in June

Industrial producer prices in Hungary rose 6.9% in June from the same period a year earlier, slowing from a 7.8% increase in the previous month, data published by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Tuesday show.

In a month-on-month comparison, producer prices fell 1.6% in June after rising 0.8% in April.

Domestic producer prices rose 6.9% year-on-year in June, slowing from a 7.4% rise in May. They fell 1.1% month-on-month, after rising 0.6% in May.

Export prices, calculated in forint terms, rose 7.0% year-on-year, after increasing 8.1% in May. The were down 1.9% month-on-month after climbing 0.9% in May.

The forint weakened 10.1% to the euro and softened 26.5% to the dollar in the twelve months to June. The Hungarian currency softened 0.1% to the euro and slipped 2.2% to the dollar from May.

Twelve-month PPI in the pharmaceutical segment of the manufacturing sector jumped 13.6%. Producer prices rose 2.9% in the computer, electronic and optical products segment, increased 4.3% in the transport equipment segment and were up 8.1% in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning segment.
