The number of mobile phone subscriptions in Hungary fell 21,000 to 11.99 million in January, the National Media and Telecommunications Authority (NMHH) said on Thursday.
The number of active mobile phone subscriptions – numbers that were called or from which calls were made in the previous three months – fell 27,000 to 11.021 million.
Market penetration inched down to 120 subscriptions per hundred people in January 2011 from 120.2 in December 2010. One year earlier, this figure was 118.2.
T-Mobile's market share based on the total number of subscriptions rose to 43.39% in January from 43.36% in December, Vodafone's increased to 22.39% from 22.38%, while Telenor's market share fell to 34.22% from 34.26%.
Based on subscriptions generating turnover, Vodafone's market share rose to 22.77% from 22.75%, while Telenor's market share fell to 32.42% from 32.43% and T-Mobile's fell to 44.81% from 44.82%.
