Hungary's average unemployment rate was 11% in both the 15-74 and the 15-64 age group in March-May 2011, down from 11.4% in February-April and an identical 11.4% measured in March-May of 2010, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Wednesday.
The jobless rate fell and the number of employed rose in both age groups for the second consecutive three-month period. The number of unemployed as well as the jobless rate rose and the number of employed fell steadily between September-November 2010 and January-March this year.
After months of decline, the activity rate in both age groups rose for the second three-month period in a row, to 62.3%.
The number of unemployed in the 15-64 age group averaged 465,700 in March-May of 2011, falling 15,500 from the previous three-month period and down 17,300 in one year.
The number of employed within the 15-64 age group rose 25,800 from February-April to 3,753,600, and was up 27,000 from a year earlier, KSH said.
Average unemployment in 2010 was 11.2%, up 1.2 percentage points from 2009.
