The number of guest nights at commercial accommodations in Hungary rose 10.3% to 963,000 in January from the same month a year earlier, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Wednesday.
The number of guest nights spent by foreign guests rose 19.2% to 502,000. The number spend by domestic guests edged up 2.0% to 461,000.
The number of guest nights at hotels climbed 12.6% to 849,000 during the period.
Russians spent 68,000 guest nights at commercial accommodations in Hungary in January, more than any other nationality. Germans followed, with 66,000 guest nights. Austrians spent 54,000 guest nights.
Commercial accommodations generated gross revenue of HUF 14.94 billion in January, up 14.7% from the same month a year earlier. Revenue from accommodation came to HUF 7.60 billion and revenue from catering reached HUF 3.76 billion.
Gross revenue of hotels increased 15.9% to HUF 13.83 billion.
Occupancy rate at hotels was 33.1% in January.
The gross average room rate at hotels was HUF 14,247.
