Hungary employment rate second-lowest in EU

Hungary's employment rate among 15- to 64-year-olds was the lowest in the region and the second-lowest in the EU27 in 2009, fresh data published by Eurostat show.

Hungary's employment rate among 15- to 64-year-olds was 55.4% in 2009, higher only than Malta's, at 54.9%, among the EU 27. The rate in Slovakia was 60.2% and it was 65.4% in the Czech Republic. Poland's rate was 59.3% and the rate in Romania was 58.6%.

The rate for the EU27 was 64.6% in 2009, down from 65.9% in 2008 and 65.4% in 2007. (MTI – Econews)
