Retail sales volume in Hungary fell a calendar year-adjusted 1.9% year-on-year in June 2008, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported on Monday.
Retail sales were down 2.2% in January-June from the same period last year. Twelve-month retail sales dropped 1.6% yr/y in May, 1.4% in April, 3.4% yr/yr in March and 2.5% in February 2008, after falling 2.7% in January 2008. June retail sales fell 0.3% from May after dropping a 0.2% in the preceding month, according to seasonally- and calendar year-adjusted figures.
Retail sales totaled Ft 535.2 billion (approximately €2.29 billion) at current prices in June and amounted to Ft 2,889.9 billion in January-June. In line with EU methodology, the figures do not include sales of vehicles, vehicle parts or fuel. (MTI-Econews)
