Retail sales volume in Hungary fell a calendar year-adjusted 1.6% year-on-year (yr/yr) in September 2008, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Monday. Retail sales were down 2.0% in January-September from the same period last year.
September retail sales fell 0.3% from August after staying flat in August and July according to seasonally- and calendar year-adjusted figures.
Third-quarter retail sales were down 1.5% yr/yr after a 1.7% drop in the second quarter and a 2.9% fall in the first quarter, calendar-adjusted figures show. Retail sales has been dropping yr/yr each month since February 2007.
Retail sales totaled HUF 545.4 billion (€1.93 billion) at current prices in September and amounted to HUF 4,548 billion in the first nine months of 2008. (MTI – Econews)
