Hungarian officials find more banned GMO corn seed

Officials have discovered 2,700 more sacks of genetically modified (GMO) corn seed, Rural Development Ministry State Secretary Endre Kardeván announced on Thursday.

Unlike to several EU members, GMO seeds are banned in Hungary.

Kardeván said that GMO seed was planted on 2,000 hectares of land in Hungary, noting that farmers have or will have to plow under GMO crops found to be growing on 5,000 hectares of land in the country.
