Hungarian labor authority fines decline 15%

National Labor Safety and Labor Supervisory Authority (OMMF) imposed HUF 7,139 billion in fines in the first eleven months of 2008, compared to HUF 8,449 billion during the same period last year, OMMF Spokesman András Gedeon announced.

Gedeon said the agency focuses on compliance with work regulations and decreasing illegal work and accidents, not increasing the amount of fines.

Gedeon added that next year the OMMF will continue its efforts to curtail illegal employment and probe for phantom companies and businesses operating without permits. (MTI – Econews)
