Farm gate prices in Hungary fell just 0.6% yr/yr in May after falling 5.7% in the previous month. Crop prices dropped 0.1% and livestock and animal product prices were down 1.6% from May 2009, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported.
Farm gate prices rose yr/yr in January and February after 16 months of decline.
Farm gate prices in the first five months were down 0.6% from a year earlier as crop prices rose 0.5% and livestock and animal product prices fell 2.5% in the period.
Farm gate prices fell 9.5% in 2009 as crop prices fell 12.7% and livestock and animal product prices fell 4.6% from 2008.
Farm gate prices of cereal crops were down 0.9% yr/yr in May 2010. The farm gate price of maize has been higher than that of wheat since January and was HUF 2,010-per-ton higher than wheat in May.
Farm gat prices of live animals fell 6.3% yr/yr in May, when the price of live hogs dropped 13.8% and that of live cattle declined 4.1%, while that of live poultry rose 0.9% compared to May 2009.
Farm gate prices of animal products rose 11.2p yr/yr in May, when the price of eggs rose 5.2% and the price of milk rose 14.0% compared to May 2009. (MTI – Econews)
