Occupancy at Hungary's selected three-to-five star hotels averaged 59.2% in January-August, 1.2 percentage points less than in the same period a year earlier, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Monday. The net average room rate was Ft 14,771 (€53.7) during the period. Gross revenue per available room (RevPAR) was Ft 10,057, up 11.8% year-on-year because of the weakening forint (most hotels in Hungary set their rates in euros), and net RevPAR was Ft 8,745 in January-August 2006.
Occupancy rates were the highest at four- and five-start hotels in Budapest, 69.9% and 67.2%, respectively, and lowest at three-star hotels in the east of the country (43.8%) and west Hungary (49.6%).
KSH compiled the figures based on a survey of all four- and five-star hotels and a selection of three-star hotels. (Mti-Eco)
