The average occupancy rate at Hungary's hotels was 53.8% in March, slightly down from 55.2% in the same month a year earlier but up from 43.9% in February, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported on Monday.
The number of guest nights was down 7% year on year in March and fell 0.2% year on year in the first quarter of the year. The average occupancy rate at hotels in Hungary was 45.7% in the first quarter this year, down 46.2% in the same period last year.
The gross average room rate was Ft 14,018 (€52.36) in March, up from Ft 12,902 a year earlier, and gross revenue per available room (RevPAR) was Ft 7,544 in March, up from 7,119 a year earlier. In the first three months, the gross average room rate was Ft 14.333, up 8.6% from the same period last year. RevPAR was up 7.4% at Ft 6,550.
