The Hungarian Investment and Trade Agency (HITA) is managing 15 projects at present that are expected to result in investments totaling €350 million and about 9,400 new jobs in the coming year, excluding automotive industry investments, the agency's head Erzsébet Dobos said at a press conference on Thursday.
Trade development events organized by HITA have generated export deals estimated to be worth some €30 million, Dobos said. More than a thousand companies have participated at exhibition and professional events organized by HITA, she added.
In addition to Hungary's traditional markets, HITA wants to turn to markets in Southeast Asia and the Middle East this year, she said. Among Hungary's traditional partners, there is "extremely high" interest by Hungarian businesses in Serbia, especially as the country offers a way onto Russian markets that is exempt of excise tax.
