This year's harvest of cereal crops, rape seed and sowing peas is estimated at 5.5 million-6.0 million tons from around 1.79 million hectares, state secretary of the Rural Development Ministry György Czerván told MTI on Wednesday.
He said the wheat harvest will cover the country's requirement of wheat for human consumption, with wheat for human consumption well exceeding 50%.
The harvest of autumn wheat is estimated at 3.8 million tons, with an average yield of 3.8 tons per hectare.
The average yield of autumn barley is 3.6 tons per hectare, with barley harvested from 185,000 hectares nationwide.
The harvest of cereal crops totaled 5.985 million tons from 1.681 million hectares in 2009, according to the Central Statistics Office (KSH). (MTI-ECONEWS)
