Govt will cut utilities prices further if service providers fail to cooperate, says PM

If cooperation is not established between the government and utilities companies, the cabinet will continue cutting utilities prices, by force if necessary, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in an interview on public radio on Friday. The government wants to cooperate with utilities companies, but the basis for this cooperation must be further reductions in utilities prices, Orbán said. He said a 10% cut in household gas, electricity and district heating prices from the start of 2013, as well as reductions in other utilities prices planned mid-year, were a "success" for the whole country.
