Govt to draft new Central Bank Act, Fidesz MP says

The government plans to draft a new Central Bank Act by the end of the year, Fidesz parliamentary group head Janos Lazar said on Monday.

The parliamentary groups of the governing Fidesz-KDNP alliance support an amendment to the draft of Hungary's new constitution which would make the Central Bank Act a law requiring approval by a two-thirds majority, he said.

Such a new Central Bank Act is expected to be prepared yet this year,  Lazar said, speaking after a meeting of the governing parties' MPs.
