Gov’t to change subsidy strategy

The government will change its subsidy policy to favor investments by businesses in the service sector, in industries with high added-value and in regions with high levels of unemployment, Minister of Economy and Transport János Kóka told a press conference on Tuesday.
Kóka briefed the press after meeting representatives from ExxonMobil, IBM ISSC, Diageo, Cisco-Getronics, Jabil, SAP, Európai Divat, Convergys, BuW, EDS and TATA Consultancy Services on possible investments in Hungary. These companies have invested Ft 85 billion in Hungary to date, creating 8,000 jobs, he said. Some 4,500 jobs have been created by foreign companies in the service sector in the last five months alone, the minister added.
