The amendments would allow employers to transfer time not worked during temporary workday reductions to a later period. Thus workers could be required to work a 44-hour work week while still being paid wages for 40 hours.
This was first introduced as a temporary measure for the period of the economic crises and would have run out at the end of this year, but the government now wants to make it permanent.
Another change would allow employers to extend the trial period for new hires as long as six months, but only if this is allowed in the collective contract in force at the employer.
According to a further amendment vacation periods could be separated into more than two parts only at the request of the employee. The amendments were submitted to Parliament for urgent debate and are expected to come into force on July 1.
