Gov't sees FDI rising to EUR 1.8bn-2.0bn in 2010 - paper says

The government's most conservative estimate for foreign direct investment in Hungary this year is EUR 1.8bn-2.0bn, state secretary for trade Zsolt Becsey said in an interview published in Tuesday's issue of Magyar Hirlap.

Becsey acknowledged that investors' assessment of Hungary is improving, but he warned against becoming "smug" in light of growing global competition to attract capital.

A little more than EUR 1bn in FDI arrived in Hungary in 2009, data compiled by the predecessor of the National Economy Ministry show. (MTI Econews)
