Gov’t plans 50%-of-GDP constitutional cap on state debt

Hungary's government plans to limit state debt to 50% of GDP in the country's new constitution, a structural reform plan shows.

The constitutional cap on state debt is part of the Széll Kálmán plan, a strategy for reducing state debt and fostering growth.

The plan projects Hungary's state debt will fall to 50% of GDP in 2018 from around 80% of GDP at present.
